Red Wing Nation Mourns

Hockeytown did not see this coming. After trouncing the Penguins in Game 5. Back to back Stanley Cup Championships were imminent. Even after losing Game 6 in Pittsburgh, there were no worries. Fans wanted to celebrate a Game 7 victory at home. What was supposed to be a great Friday night party, turned into a funeral .
Yes, the Penguins were tough and skilled and deserved to win. But the cumulative effect for Detroit, starting in a grueling seven game series against Anaheim, was a factor. It was a energy deficit more than a talent deficit.
The Detroit area has been hit hard with the automotive industry bankruptcies, political scandals and yes the winless Lions. We can now add. Losing Game 7 at home, having Garry Bettman hand the Stanley Cup to Sidney Crosby. This Detroiter can only ask what is next ?
